All our pilots have the right certifications (A1, A2, A3 and Specific). As soon as a client asks us to fly at a specific location, we first check the situation via map.godrone.nl. This allows us to determine whether additional procedures apply, such as CTRs, no-fly zones, or U-Spaces.
For flights in civil CTRs, we submit an application via the LVNL Operator Portal. Our pilots and drones are registered there. For each mission, we enter the location, date, time, maximum flight altitude, pilot, and drone details. After submission, we usually receive a preliminary approval about two days before the flight.

Parallel to the application process, we assemble the team. In addition to the drone and pilot, a certified radio telephony (RT) operator is mandatory. At Zero Gravity, we have our own pool of RT operators and all necessary equipment on board our command vehicle. We also draft a comprehensive flight plan, documenting all operational data and risk assessments.
On the morning of the flight, we receive final clearance from the LVNL (Air Traffic Control the Netherlands). Before take-off, the entire team performs the I’M SAFE check: the flight only proceeds if every team member is cleared as ‘safe’.

Unique Challenges at Schiphol When capturing drone footage in Arnolduspark in Hoofddorp, we operate within the busiest airspace in the Netherlands. In the Schiphol CTR, only one drone flight is permitted at a time, meaning we directly compete with other operators for slots. Furthermore, Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL) only provides final confirmation at the very last moment. For these reasons, there is simply no margin for error.
Our Solution
Timely application via the LVNL portal
Clear communication with the client regarding planning margins
Comprehensive briefing for both the team and the client
Deployment of our permanent RT operators with experience in the Schiphol CTR
Always scheduling a backup day
When a client asks Zero Gravity for a series of aerial shots of the Erasmus Bridge and the port area, we are faced with a complex operation. This is because Rotterdam involves not only a CTR but also a No-Fly Zone above the port, as shown here.
Even in a No-Fly Zone, we are able to arrange exemptions. In Rotterdam, a dedicated U-space has been established for this purpose: an air traffic management system specifically focused on unmanned aviation. For this, we register through the Airwayz platform. This process is in addition to the regular coordination with Rotterdam/The Hague Airport. Fortunately, the Rotterdam CTR allows up to three drones to operate simultaneously.

Dual application via both LVNL and the Airwayz UTM system
Automation of repeat requests through our internal mission management system
Coordination with both port authorities and aviation management
Use of real-time situational awareness tools in our Command Vehicle
Goal Capture inspection footage of a defense-related site near Eindhoven Airport.
Unique Challenges in Eindhoven When capturing inspection footage of a defense-related site near Eindhoven Airport, specific protocols come into play. This CTR is military rather than civilian, meaning standard civil procedures do not apply here.
Applications are handled directly through the Royal Netherlands Air Force, and a NOTAM must be requested via the Ministry of Defense. Because every military CTR maintains its own specific application procedure, detailed knowledge is essential. Zero Gravity has experience with all military CTRs in the Netherlands; we ensure that these complex regulations never become a barrier to your project.
Our Solution
Direct application through the appropriate military point of contact
All military procedures mapped out in our internal database
Following approval: requesting an official NOTAM from the Ministry of Defense
Deployment of an RT operator with specific experience in military zones

Flying in controlled airspace is challenging, but certainly achievable with the right preparation and a professional team. Thanks to our experience, certifications, and structured approach, we are able to execute drone operations in even the most complex zones in the Netherlands.
Zero Gravity Drone staat klaar voor elke vlucht van creatieve cityshots tot technische inspecties, in open veld of boven strategisch gebied.
We are ready to take off for you.
